This was one of the most profound experiences of my entire life in Christ. Rather than describe it, I encourage you to go. Savor the silence. Experience community without conversation. Make time in your life to listen to God, in the space silence provides.

Thank you! Still hoping to get to Gethsemani and I completely understand eagerness to return. Thanks for being such a faithful follower of very infrequent posts over the past few months!
I am so happy for you to have finally had the experience of meeting our Lord in silence! Now that you have tasted it, you will hunger for more no doubt. I made my first silent retreat at the Abbey of Gethsemani, the Cistercian Order of Strict Observance, in the knobs of Kentucky in 1989. I have been going back regularly since then, looking forward to my retreat like a child looks forward to Christmas. O beata solitudo!
